Writing comes from the heart. I felt I could give the world something, like Lewis Hyde said to the “gifted”, “to give something back”.

He loved Rebecca. He loved her so much. But she was not a Muslim. And this is where his story faltered, shook, like a man standing in the commute, his whole word suddenly moving as he tries to hold onto something.
It was then I thought to myself that I could actually write. If my first attempt at prose writing got a lot of encouraging feedbacks and good reviews, then why not do this? So I did!

calling people to solat
Some days you write like you created the craft and on others, you question if you even know how to bring to life a single line.
The few birds of this night sky
bear witness that there is no
other god except Allah; a
thought that lingers on while I
make a brief pause in my tilaawah.
